This is an easy vegan, gluten-free dessert that is perfect for casual fall gatherings. I have made it in a pie dish and also in individual ramekins. Eat the leftovers for breakfast topped with plain yogurt--so good. It's basically spiced apples with wholesome granola on top!

Ingredients
5 Honeycrisp or other sweet apples, peeled and cut into small cubes
1 lemon, juice and zest
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp arrowroot powder (optional: this will thicken the juices but I don't mind a little juice in my crumble)
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3-4 Tbsp sweetener (I use Lakanto brown sugar or maple syrup)
Crumble
1/2 cup almond flour
1 1/4 gluten-free rolled oats
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp almond butter
1/4 cup maple syrup

Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix together crumble ingredients and set aside.
Mix filling ingredients together and pour into a 9-inch pie plate.
If preferred, sprinkle top with about 1 tbsp coconut sugar/Lakanto brown sugar/or maple sugar.
Bake for 30-40 minutes or until apples are tender. Cover top with foil if it looks like the topping is burning before finished cooking.
