Tahini Dressings

It's so great that something so delicious is also healthy! Tahini is the base for many of my salad dressings-it pairs well with just about anything you can dump in a salad bowl. There are so many variations of tahini dressings, and I change it up often depending on what I have in the fridge. Here are just a few!


Sumac Tahini Dressing

  • 1/4 cup tahini

  • 1/4 cup squeezed lemon juice

  • 1/3 cup water

  • 3 cloves of garlic

  • 1/2-3/4 tsp sumac

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric

  • 1/2-1 tsp garlic powder

  • sprinkle of smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp salt (plus more to taste)

  • Pinch of red pepper

Zap everything in the Vitamix and adjust seasoning. I get two big salads out of this. Store in a glass jar.



Smoked Paprika Salad Dressing

  • 1/3 cup tahini

  • 1/4 cup squeezed lemon juice

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 3 cloves garlic

  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: cayenne or red pepper flakes

Zap everything in the Vitamix and adjust seasoning. Store in a glass jar in the fridge.

As per photo, can also be drizzled over greens.





Touch of Sweet Tahini Dressing

I like to use this in my Citrus Kale Salad.

  • 2 tbsp tahini

  • Juice from 1 1/2 lemons

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • Pinch of cayenne

  • Salt to taste

Blend everything in a small Cuisinart.



Orange Tahini Dressing

  • 1/4 cup brown rice vinegar

  • 1/4 cup tahini

  • Juice from 2-3 oranges

  • 2 heaping tsp white or yellow miso

  • 4 cloves garlic

  • 1 tbsp tamari

  • 1 tbsp sriracha

  • Little fresh ginger (1/2 inch or so)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Zap everything in a Vitamix and store dressing in glass jar in fridge.





Sweet Turmeric Salad Dressing:

  • 1/2 cup tahini

  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

  • 1/3 cup water

  • 2 garlic cloves

  • 1 tsp dried turmeric powder

  • 1 tbsp (or less) maple syrup

  • 1-2 tsp fresh ginger, grated

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Zap everything in a Vitamix and enjoy!



Orange Tahini Dressing:

  • 2 tbsp tahini

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1/4-1/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast

  • 1 tsp garlic powder (or fresh garlic)

  • 1 tsp of harissa paste

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Freshly ground pepper

Whisk all the ingredients together!
